my soft hands became a sword one day
언젠가 내 여린 손이 칼이 되었으니
is soo hyun lee’s debut solo exhibition.

soo hyun lee explores strategies and methods of transforming fragile materials, delicate topics and social symbols into a form of playful resistance.

her first solo exhibition will include several works from the early to recent daphne series as well as the latest my soft hands became a sword one day series, which inspired the title of this show. her current focus is on the evolution of the female form and figure unfolding in several stages: from protecting and revealing herself - to recontextualising her struggles as a source of strength - to finally mocking her perpetrators and turning the plot entirely.

soo hyun lee (*1998) is a south korean visual artist based in london working with painting, performance and video installation. she graduated from goldsmiths with an MFA in fine art (2024) and from korea university in seoul with a BFA in fine art and a BA in sociology (2022).
